We are in our very early 40's (Although we look young) we are really old to get a baby on our own and with work / business commitment we decide to adopt. Well, this would mean that we are giving a new and comfortable Life! To a child....
Well, we believe in life after death so doing this adoption is good 'karma'...
To cut it short.....Here's the story.................
We then looked for an adoption company, 2 actually; the first was really a fly by Night Company. We saw the baby from the agency which were showed to me at a void deck of a HDB block in Woodlands.... "Can they do such things!..." Lady says baby is from JB just a few km away... But it looked to me like she stole the baby from Malaysia.....it was a 6 months old baby Girl...but, we gave that a skip as we were not comfortable with the company.
So off to the next agency which was introduced to me by a friend. This company is really a pro. They have photo of couples that have gotten a child from the company and even 'Thank you letter' and 'Letter of recommendation'. They ask many questions about what we were looking for as the sex of the baby, age, religion of parents, race of parents..ect.
Real detailed to do a match. So about 2 weeks later Francis the owner called me and told me that there was an 8mths old girl from Malaysia. So he arranged for a meeting at his sisters house where we could see the baby. We went on the day itself; saw the baby.... once my wife Yvonne tried holding her the baby started to cry.. Cried so loud that she could not bear to carry her. We spent 45min in the house and the baby was still crying! Ummm! We thought? That's it! Seems not to be faithed to be parents to adopt a baby...There were no bonds within that baby and us... so we decided to call it quits..
About 5 days later, Francis called again and this time he said that he has a 'Special'. baby for us...A 4 month?s old baby girl from Malaysia in a little town called 'Kulai'. The baby has very big eyes that we had to see...Reluctantly we said ok! As we kind of decide not to have one after 2 events of seeing the others. We arrived at the house at 7pm. We saw the baby. 'It was Love at first sight'. Really never we would believe in such things but I tell you, it is so true.. Straight away there was a bonding with baby and us. We turn around to Francis and said, 'OK! We want her please arrange the paperwork'. We paid the deposit and the next step was to get approval from MCYS. We left the house at 11pm because we could not bear to leave her??
Now was a real part of the adoption, 1 month of hell which we went through a 4 hours interview in MCYS office and another 3 hours interview at home. We had to produce all our education certificates, IRS info, bank accounts, housing load & car loan balances, everything even a check-up from Woodbridge hospital if we were admitted in there before!. .There was 5 pages of forms that we had to fill up regards to ...Why we want to Adopt?. Even I had to give out 3 of my closes friends name and addresses so that they can interview them too. Well, finally after a stressful month.. We pass with flying colours and the baby was then officially ours.
Her name is Simorrah Nydia Seow we saw her when she was 4 months old and she is now 1 year old. It cost me $26,000.00 which includes all lawyer cost, medical cost and paper work...it may sound expensive but thinking back.... my Simorrah, she is priceless!
We hope you enjoy our experience and hope you too will be able to experience this wonderful event....
